Die Zeit des Krieges, die Zeit des Verliebens und die Zeit als Mönch, in der er auf sein Leben zurückblickt. Der zweifache Palme D'Or Gewinner Kusturica führt Regie und spielt selber die Hauptrolle, in dieser Geschichte um Liebe und Krieg, reich an Emotionen, WItz und Abenteuer.

Sous le feu des balles, Kosta, un laitier, traverse la ligne de front chaque jour au péril de sa vie pour livrer ses précieux vivres aux soldats. Bientôt, cette routine est bouleversée par l’arrivée de Nevesta, une belle réfugiée italienne.
